Each year pupils from year six and year seven read five brilliant books. They write reviews, discuss the books, take part in quizzes and research authors. Pupils then vote on their favourite book and a winner is decided. By taking part in the award pupils gain confidence in reading, are introduced to a wide variety of quality literature, and have a lot of fun! Many primary and secondary schools take part in the Southwark Book Award together to assist with transition.

The award is free to take part in. Each school just needs to buy some copies of the shortlisted books. If you would like to take part in the award please contact organiser(аt)southwarkbookaward.org.uk
